Jide Kosoko, a veteran Nollywood actor has shared his view on one of the most popular controversy which is sex-for-roles in the Nigerian film industry. He stated that some of the actresses went into the industry with the intention of sleeping their way to fame. They entered into the industry in order to use sexual relationship to bring themselves to the limelight.
He expressed his view during his recent appearance on Honest Bunch podcast. There, he stated this different narrative to the popular notion which is that the directors and producers imposes such conditions on actresses.
His statement reads; "If I said I need you to warm my bed so that I can give you a role, and you said no, they cannot force you to do it. And if you want that role by all means, that means you want to dance to his tone,” he explained.
He emphasized that even if such demand is being placed, it is still the decision of the individual that is involved to make.
“I’m not saying it’s right to have introduced that to you, but if you fall for it, that’s your own business. How does that concern the whole world? All this sex-for-roles thing, forget about it,” Kosoko stated.
Though in appreciate, he also stated that some women looks for such opportunities in order to gain recognition in Nollywood industry.
“I know some ladies that equally come into the industry with the determination that, by the time ‘I sleep with this and sleep with that, I will get my name. I know of some popular actresses. I know of even a Magistrate,” he revealed
