Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State gifts Miss Ifebude Chelsea Benson a cash prize of ₦500,000 for being the overall best candidate of the 2023 National Examination Council (NECO).
Miss Ifebude, who hails from Ndikelionwu in Orumba North LGA, scored distinction ( A1) in all the nine subject that she sat for, during the examination.
With her grades, she was able to easily secure admission to study medicine and surgery in the University of Abuja.
The governor offered her the award through the minister for education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. She presented the award on behalf of the Governor to Mr Ben Benson, Miss Ifebude's father.
While giving out the award, the commissioner stated that the reward was the governor's way of encouraging academic excellence and hardwork among the pupils and students of Anambra
She also expressed that the government has being seriously investing in education. With the aim of obtaining education such as that of a developed countries, which will aid students from Anambra State the ability to complete favorably with their peers anywhere in the world.
Mr Benson, the father of Ifebude, in his speech thanked Soludo for the award, and also noted that this show of acknowledgement from him depicts he's a great Governor who encourages hard work.
He concluded by stating that the award would go a long way in fostering her daughter's education and also giving her the chance to strive to be the best as well as bringing a good name to the state.
