US has issued an official warning to Nigerians who travels to the US. In the warning, are the consequences that lies in overstaying their visa, which is that such violation could result to the permanent ban from entering the country again.

US immigration authorities, the consular officers have full access for every of an individual immigration history and for that can easily detect violation. As a result of that it is impossible to avert penalties that is associated with overstaying.

The officials also stated that, there won't be pardon for any individual that claims to be ignorance of the visa regulations, as traveled last should be able to comply with the terms of their stay.

“If you overstay your U.S. visa, you could face a permanent ban on traveling to the United States. Consular officers have full access to your immigration history and will know about past violations. There is no such thing as an “honest mistake” – it is your responsibility to use your visa correctly,” the tweet reads.


The immigration law stated that, individuals who overstay their visa by more than 180 days but less than a year could face a three-year ban from re-entering the country.


While the ones that out-stay for a year or more risk attracting a 10 - year ban, while offenders who are caught twice or those with serious violations may face a lifetime ban.

The officials concluded by advising all travelers to keep track of their Visa expiring dates, and also follow due processes if there is a need for an extension, in order to avoid penalties.
