Ibok-Ete Ibas, the new administrator of Rivers State has appointed a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in the person of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika.

He publicised this in a statement issued on Tuesday, 25th of March, which he noted that the appointment needed an immediate effects.

He also acknowledged that this selection was made after conducting a thorough evaluation. He noted that Worika's credentials, experience an strong performance, gave him a foot to be selected.

“Professor Worika holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom. He has served in prestigious roles across academia, international organizations, and government advisory capacities,” the statement read.

He expressed that Worika's appointment also complements the administration's commitment to leveraging the human resources of the people of Rivers State, which will enable the fostering of peace, stability and security in the state

In his statement, Ibas also announced the current development, which is the resignation of the Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, George Nwaeke.

Ibas while acknowledging Nwaeke's contribute, he also wished him well in his endeavours in the future.

“His Excellency, The Administrator appreciates the immense contributions he has shown this administration in the short period he served and wishes him well in his future endeavors,” the statement said.

He also stated that, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare is now serving in the Office of the Head of Service. She has been made to take the role of Head of Service until a new appointment is made

While expressing this, Ibas reassured that his committed to neutrality, peace, and stability in Rivers State, assuring the public that his administration will continue to leverage on this principles.

Ibas stated working as Rivers State administrator after being sworn in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 19th of March as a result political crisis in Rivers State, which made the President to declare state of emergency and appointed Ibas as the state's administrator.
